Review with your students how to use an encyclopedia with these task cards. I made these cards specifically to use with print or online encyclopedias. There are a total of 52 cards, 2 for each letter of the alphabet. Each card has a letter on it inside of the apple. The letter corresponds to the word or phrase the student will look up in the encyclopedia. For example: B = a question about the brain. I did this mainly for use with print encyclopedias. This way you or the student knows which encyclopedia to use to look up the answer.
One way to use these with print encyclopedias is to put the cards and their matching encyclopedia volumes on the tables or desks. Then students can rotate around the room looking up the answers. I thought this would be the easiest way to manage the use of these cards in a library or classroom setting.
