Description
Students will enjoy learning about and reviewing figurative language with this PowerPoint activity. This activity can be used as an introduction or a review activity.
The figurative language reviewed are
- hyperbole
- simile
- metaphor
- idiom
- alliteration
- onomatopoeia
The first seven slides provide definitions and examples of each type of figurative language. The review game consists of 25 questions. Each question asks students to identify what type of figurative language is being used in the sentence. For example: It’s raining cats and dogs. This is an example of an idiom.
I have also included a set of figurative language posters that you can print and hang up. They are identical to the first seven PowerPoint slides (except the posters have a white background).
