This is a fun way to review dictionary skills with your students. Students will need a dictionary to complete most of the task cards. Each card is numbered. There is also a letter A in the corner of each card (I have a similar set for grades 4-6 that are labeled Set B.) Most of the cards require students to use a dictionary to find the answer. Some of the cards ask students to put words in ABC order and to review guide words. Some of the questions include: find a word with 4 syllables, find a word that begins with a certain prefix or ends with a certain suffix, fill in the missing letters of a word. These are a great way to review ELA skills.
What is included: 30 task cards in color
The same 30 task cards in black and white
You can use these task cards in many ways:
- Scoot activity
- Hang them around the room and have students walk around and read them/answer the questions
- Center activity
- Fast finishers or individual practice
- Whole group (display the cards on a document camera)
This is part of my Reference Materials Task Card bundle.
